With the first Matchless produced in 1899, Matchless moved to commercial manufacture in 1901.

Matchless built a wide range of motorcycles to suit all budgets and purposes. The most famous models being the Silver Arrow and Silver Hawk multi-cylinder bikes of the 1930s. The wartime G3L was one of the most popular British service machines of World War II and the first to feature telescopic front forks.
